Gbolahan Taiwo is the Regional Economist, West Africa, at Standard Bank Group. He is part of a larger team conducting macroeconomic research on African countries. The macroeconomic research is overlaid with fixed income and currency research to produce executable trade ideas in African fixed income and currency markets. Gbolahan is regularly cited in newspaper articles and interacts extensively with the media including, CNBC Africa, Bloomberg and local market reporters. He is a member of the Bank’s Assets and Liabilities Committee (ALCO) for Nigeria and Ghana and advises the bank's clients and senior management in various in-country offices on West Africa strategy. He is a graduate of Economics from Covenant University and holds a Masters in International Financial Economics from the University of Glasgow, UK. Gbolahan started out his career as a financial market analyst with First Bank of Nigeria Plc in 2012, before joining the Standard Bank Group in 2015.
